Installation with the Adapter Bracket

1. If applicable, remove the four 4mm M3 screws from the sides of unit

2. For FortiGate 60D series devices, insert two of the provided hex screws into the bracket.

3. Place the unit into the adapter bracket. The device is held in place by the magnets on the bracket.

4. If applicable, use four of the provided 6mm M3 flathead screws to secure the device into the sides of the bracket, or one or two screws to secure the device through the bottom of the bracket

5. Place the bracket onto one side of the tray. The bracket is held in place by the magnets on the base of the bracket and on the rack mount tray

6. Optionally, secure the bracket in place using one or two of the provided 6mm M3 flathead screws.

7. Attach the provided grounding wire to the ground screw on the back of the unit and to the rack mount tray using the provided 6mm M3 panhead screw.

Installation without the Adapter Bracket

1. If they have been attached, remove the rubber feet from the bottom of the device

2. Place the unit onto one side of the tray. The magnets in the tray will hold the device in place.

3. Optionally, secure the device in place using one or two of the provided 6mm M3 flathead or 3.5mm M2.5 D4 shoulder slotted (FG-80E series) screws, depending on the number of screwholes on the bottom of the device that align to holes on the tray.

4. Attach the provided grounding wire to the ground screw on the back of the FortiGate unit and to the rack mount tray using the provided 6mm M3 panhead screw.

Installation for Devices with Plastic Casings

Devices with plastic cases must be secured to the tray using the provided screws.

1. Attach two rubber feet next to the center screw hole and one next to the corner screw hole.

2. Use two of the provided 8mm M3 flathead screws to attach the unit directly to the rack mount tray

Installation of Tray into Rack

Caution: To avoid personal injury or damage to the unit, it is recommended that two or more people install the unit into the rack.

1. Position the rack mount tray in the rack. Ensure there is enough room around the unit to allow for sufficient air flow.

2. Line up the rack tount tray holes to the holes on the rack and ensure that the Rack Mount Tray is level.

3. Finger tighten four rack-mount screws to attach the unit to the rack.

4. Verify that the spacing around the rack mount tray conforms to requirements and that the unit is level, then tighten the rack-mount screws with an appropriate screwdriver.

5. Connect the device to the network as per the device’s QuickStart guide. Device specific QuickStart guides can be found in the Fortinet Document Library: http://docs.fortinet.com.

6. Secure the device’s power adapters to the rack mount tray using the provided cable ties.
